When the actor sang his final note, everyone held their positions.

“Cut,” yelled the director.

The cameras stopped rolling and everyone relaxed.

“That was a good take,” said the cameraman.

“Looked good to me,” said the lighting man.

“Hedy looks so confident,” said Baz. He never liked being the center of attention.

“She sure is brave,” said Asha.

“Let’s reset and shoot it one more time for good luck,” shouted the director. “Hedy,” he said gently, “can I speak to you for a moment?”

Asha and Baz looked at each other.

“Did she do something wrong?” Asha whispered.

“I don’t think so,” replied Baz.

Asha and Baz tiptoed up behind the director as he walked over to speak with Hedy.

“Yes?” asked Hedy.

“I just wanted to tell you to keep doing exactly what you are doing. Don’t change a thing,” said the director.

Hedy smiled at the director and turned to walk back to her starting point.

“Take your marks,” the director yelled. “Lights, camera, action!”

They shot the movie scene just as perfectly as they had done the first time.

“Cut,” yelled the director again. “That’s a wrap!”

“What are they wrapping?” asked Baz.

“That’s movie talk for they are done filming for today,” replied Asha.

Just then, Hedy walked over to Asha and Baz. “Have you seen George?” she asked.

“He had to leave. He had to go speak to someone about a piano job. He asked us to say goodbye for him,” said Asha.

The director waved his hands as if to usher Hedy, Asha, and Baz to wardrobe. They took the cue and started walking toward the costume trailer.

It was afternoon now and the California sun was warmer than ever.

“Well, who will help me with the patent application now?” asked Hedy. She looked at Asha and Baz. “I have an idea, why don’t we work on my patent application together? Then we’ll solve your coding problem.”

“We would love to help you Hedy,” said Asha.

“Good,” said Hedy. “Meet me at my trailer.” And with that she walked quickly to the wardrobe trailer to return her costume.

Asha and Baz turned down the lane to go toward Hedy’s trailer.

“Asha,” said Baz, “didn’t George say they would be laughed out of the patent office?”
