When the actor sang his final note, everyone held their positions.
âCut,â yelled the director.
The cameras stopped rolling and everyone relaxed.
âThat was a good take,â said the cameraman.
âLooked good to me,â said the lighting man.
âHedy looks so confident,â said Baz. He never liked being the center of attention.

âShe sure is brave,â said Asha.
âLetâs reset and shoot it one more time for good luck,â shouted the director. âHedy,â he said gently, âcan I speak to you for a moment?â
Asha and Baz looked at each other.
âDid she do something wrong?â Asha whispered.
âI donât think so,â replied Baz.
Asha and Baz tiptoed up behind the director as he walked over to speak with Hedy.
âYes?â asked Hedy.
âI just wanted to tell you to keep doing exactly what you are doing. Donât change a thing,â said the director.
Hedy smiled at the director and turned to walk back to her starting point.
âTake your marks,â the director yelled. âLights, camera, action!â
They shot the movie scene just as perfectly as they had done the first time.
âCut,â yelled the director again. âThatâs a wrap!â
âWhat are they wrapping?â asked Baz.
âThatâs movie talk for they are done filming for today,â replied Asha.
Just then, Hedy walked over to Asha and Baz. âHave you seen George?â she asked.
âHe had to leave. He had to go speak to someone about a piano job. He asked us to say goodbye for him,â said Asha.
The director waved his hands as if to usher Hedy, Asha, and Baz to wardrobe. They took the cue and started walking toward the costume trailer.
It was afternoon now and the California sun was warmer than ever.
âWell, who will help me with the patent application now?â asked Hedy. She looked at Asha and Baz. âI have an idea, why donât we work on my patent application together? Then weâll solve your coding problem.â
âWe would love to help you Hedy,â said Asha.
âGood,â said Hedy. âMeet me at my trailer.â And with that she walked quickly to the wardrobe trailer to return her costume.
Asha and Baz turned down the lane to go toward Hedyâs trailer.
âAsha,â said Baz, âdidnât George say they would be laughed out of the patent office?â
